Frankie & Marcus & The Painted Blue Wedding Dress
We first met Frankie back in September 2022 when she came to us with her vision! Frankie had spotted the hand painted blue Evelyna wedding dress on social media and we had loaned this in especially for her first appointment with us.
"I only visited May and Grace. I knew a House of Savin dress was my dream and May and Grace was one of the few boutiques stocking a wide range of Savin dresses. I reached out to Emilie about the Evelyna dress and she was able to get the dress on loan for me to try. The wedding dress shopping experience was so special because Emilie was so knowledgeable and passionate about the dresses! I felt comfortable because I was in such a great hands - it made everything so smooth and the process so much more enjoyable."
How did you decide upon the dress that you chose?
"I had seen the dress on social media and had my heart set on it. I knew I was visiting May and Grace with Evelyna in my heart. Emilie was wonderful at showing me a range of dresses prior to trying on Evelyna to ensure I had seen a few styles and colours on myself - this made the decision even easier when I finally put on the dress I knew was mine!"
To make Frankie's dress even more special we did a bespoke design for her to incorporate elements from other gowns that she loved. Creating an Aline skirt so that there was more flare in the lining and the dress became fuller and more dramatic. The finished effect on Frankie was so striking with her ice blonde bobbed hair and individual style, she looked incredible.
Favourite part of your dress shopping experience?
"My favourite part was pairing the dress with accessories such as shoes, earrings and a veil. As someone who had a clear picture of the dress they wanted, I had kind of forgotten about all the other things that bring the whole look together. It was so fun to see different styles of accessory and really bring the whole vision to life."
What shoes and accessories did you choose and why?
"Emilie recommended the Charlotte Mills brand for shoes when I mentioned I wanted a shoe with pearls incorporated into them. I went to their Manchester store and purchased wedding heels and flats! I wore a pearl scattered veil purchased through May and Grace, as well as a single pearl gold necklace and pearl drop earrings."
Frankie & Marcus got married at Barnett Hill Hotel in Wonersh, Guildford. Their special day took place in Autumn 2024.
"The venue is a beautiful mix of modern decor and traditional stately features. The grounds are stunning in the autumn and the staircase is to die for. We chose the venue as we were able to have exclusive use of the premises for 24 hours and treat all our guests to bed and breakfast: the day was one big celebration and we were able to be together to reminisce over breakfast!"
Colour palette and theme
"We chose a navy, black and gold colour scheme. Our bridal party and immediate family all wore baby blue to compliment the dress - guests were asked not to wear shades of blue. The groomsmen all wore black. Our flowers were 70% foliage and 30% wildflowers to keep the natural feel to the decor."
How did you feel in your dress on your special day?
"I felt incredible in my dress on the day. It fit like a glove and really tied the day together. As a bride who always knew they wanted something out of the norm, it was more romantic and bridal than I had ever imaged myself wearing but it truly made me feel like myself. It reflected my fun personality but retained the soft beauty of a wedding I wanted to keep with. My guests couldn’t stop talking about it and whenever someone got a closer look they were in awe of the detail."
Favourite moment of the day?
"Marcus turning around and seeing me at the end of the aisle. His face lit up and hearing the violin play Love Story and seeing him looking so dashing was a moment I will always cherish. We took a few seconds to just be in that moment and cherish the moment before being Mr and Mrs."
First dance
"As two huge Swifties, we danced to Lover by Taylor Swift . Marcus learnt a few twirls and dips the day before the wedding and pulled them off brilliantly! The guests were all very impressed."
