Annie + Eds Magical Meadow Wedding

Annie + Ed tied the knot on a hot summers day in June at the brides home.

Annie chose 'Sienna' a unique silk off the shoulder gown with floral appliques. A fitted silhouette can be seen under the dress but a sheer top layer of silk lends drama and flare to the shape of the gown with an added silk ruffle hem. Annie's dress is from a selection of Freda Bennet gowns available at May & Grace.

Annie said - "Before visiting May & Grace I was feeling a little deflated and uninspired, I couldn’t find anything which felt like me. I’d spent a lot of time trawling online and had visited 2 other shops, but I was under a lot of time pressure as I was set to move to Barbados and wouldn’t be back in the UK until a few weeks before the wedding. Emilie was so accommodating around my slightly unusual situation, from offer styling advice to ordering and storing my dress until I was back in the UK! I always felt very relaxed and happy at our appointments".

How did you decide upon the dress that you chose?

"This dress was actually my wild card choice, I initially thought I wanted something more simple and sleek but as soon as I tried on Sienna, I knew it was the right dress for me. I tend to wear a lot of vintage clothes and Sienna had that retro feel, whilst still feeling relaxed. Our wedding was in a meadow in June, so I wanted something which wouldn’t feel out of place in that setting".

What was the favourite part of your dress shopping experience?

"Honestly, it was the relief of finding a dress which I felt relaxed and comfortable in (before moving abroad)! It was also fun to surprise myself (and my mum) with my choice!"

What shoes and accessories did you choose and why?

" I wore a pair of silver Loeffler Randall Camellia heels, Rainbow Club Elderflower Pearl Edge Veil from May & Grace and my something borrowed was a pair of my mother’s Pearl Earrings Drops from ‘Annoushka’."

Venue, please describe your venue and why you chose it?

"We got married in a field at home – my dad has been cultivating the field into a wildflower meadow for the past few years. It one of my favourite places in the world, with a view of the south downs so couldn’t be more perfect."

Did you have a specific colour palette or theme for your wedding day?

"English summer meadow, I accidentally became obsessed with all things blue and white (from the flowers to the marquee) so that naturally became the colour palette!"

How did you feel in your dress on your special day?

"I really felt like myself in my dress, which was the most important thing. I wanted to feel relaxed and comfortable, which I did…in spite of the heat on the day!"

What was your favourite moment of the day?

"Driving back from the church on the back of a vintage tractor driven by my brother. It was the first moment Ed and I could take it all in together – it was a very special moment and we both felt quite overwhelmed with happiness"

Did you have a first dance?

"We didn’t actually plan on doing a first dance, we just kicked off the dancing to the band…the first song happened to be Hips Don’t Lie by Shakira (which was super fun as a brass band cover), an unexpected first dance but certainly memorable!"
